Joan Bernadette (Doran) Rosenthall, 87, predeceased by her husband, Dr. Charles Rosenthall, died on August 16, 2021, at Davis Health Care Center of Porter’s Neck, after a brief illness. Joan was born in Medford, MA on December 13, 1933, the daughter of Leo Doran and Helen Morrow Doran, and resided in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Florida, and North Carolina. She attended Medford High School and Somerville Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Rosenthall was employed by Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL, Fawcett Hospital, Rochester, New Hampshire, and Elliot Hospital, Manchester, New Hampshire. She retired in 2003.
She was a dedicated labor and delivery/postpartum nurse, helping countless families, providing them with confidence and compassion. Joan was a committed Boston Red Sox fan who wouldn’t miss a game. She was a member of Egret Pointe Bocce League in Florida and a competitive card and board game player, especially Rummicube. Joan loved music and Jimmy Buffet was a favorite. Her family was lucky to share a few of his concerts with her.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lisa Jellison (Frank Arico) and Laura Schultz (David); sons, Dr. Louis Rosenthall (Mary), Gene Rosenthall (Linda); grandchildren Charles Rosenthall, Jennifer Fennelly, Michael Jellison, Sarah Sloper, Mark Jellison, Melissa Rosenthall, Matthew Jellison, Rachel Rosenthall, Alex Schultz, and Annabel Schultz; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Doran (Agnes), and thirty-two nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her son, Jay Harris and sisters, Marilyn Hogan, Annette Parece, Leona Correlle and Barbara Fagan.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date, one in New Hampshire and one in North Carolina.
