Memorial Gifts & Donations

Joan Beth Naylor-Danell of Wilmington, NC passed peacefully from this earth on January 20, 2024 while being cared for at Novant Regional Medical Center. She was 75 yrs old and was born in Essex, VT where she will be laid to rest.

She is survived by her husband Mark, her sons Shane and Ryan, their wives Tricia and Allison, her sister Pearl, a niece Lorrie, four grandchildren Keith, Kailah, Stokes, and Parker, three great grandchildren Kade, Brinly, and Theodore, and many extended family members and loving friends.

Joan was always very active and had many interests. She was an accomplished cook, loved tending her gardens, and could often be found working on her many craft projects. She enjoyed walking, playing pickleball, swimming, snorkeling, and bike riding, or just settling into her recliner for a good movie. She always enjoyed being around people and made friends very easily. Everyone who knew her recognized her zest for life, creative mind, all-encompassing generosity, sensitivity, boundless energy and always positive personality. She touched many lives and will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Brain Research Foundation at the link above at “Memorial Gifts and Donations”.

A Celebration of Life will be held online (link which will be provided to friends and family at a later date).

    Carol L Danell says:
I will miss Joan's beautiful smile a laugh. She never hesitated to share both. I love the time we spent together and stories shared. I regret not knowing Joan sooner, and although our time together was a short, she truly left a footprint on my heart. I will forever remember Joan as one who lived a life full of grace. My life will never quite be the same without her in it.
