Joanne Elizabeth Hamlin

Memorial Gifts & Donations

Joanne Elizabeth Hamlin was born in London, Ontario Canada and passed away on the 25th of September in Wilmington, N.C at the age of 64.

Joanne is survived by her daughters, Lindsey (Chad) and Courtney (Jeremy), her five grandchildren (Connor, Caroline, Hudson, Holden and Paxton), her loving partner and best friend Jim, her twin sister Cathy (Craig) and her brother Steven (Janet), and her mother Isabel.

Joanne chose to be a nurse as a profession, a role that required her to give her utmost, where she worked in years past to care for residents during her tenure at Woodbury Wellness Center and at Liberty Commons Nursing Home. Joanne was known by the residents as a woman who would take care of them to the best of her ability, while smiling and telling a quick joke to ease their pain. Joanne received the Certificate of Appreciation Award from Governor Pat McCrory for her outstanding and dedicated work with nursing home residents in October, 2014 – a true testament to her caring nature.

Joanne was loved dearly by her family and friends, and her passing leaves a large hole in the lives of those who loved her.
Joanne’s passion for animals was well-known … if you feel so drawn, the Pender County Animal Shelter in Hampstead, NC would appreciate donations of any kind in Joanne’s memory.

A memorial service will be at 2:00pm Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

I remember Joanne as always having a smile on her face. She truly loved her residents and treated each one as though they were her mother or father. She also bragged about her family that she loved so dearly. She was also always talking about the shenanigans that her fur babies could get into. Although I have not seen her for a while, I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you ( her family).

Worked with your Mom and to work with her was a joy. She was hard working and always willing to help with anyone need. If you needed anything or an answer to a question we would ask her. Praying that God gives you strength during such a difficult time.
