John David Maisenhelder, 65 of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

John was born in Philadelphia on March 25, 1948. He was preceded in death by his father John Maisenhelder, and was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was on the worship praise team. He served his country in the U.S Marine Corp , received degrees from Southeastern Theological Seminary as well a a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and worked for the Methodist home for children as a family preservation specialist. He was a Martial Artist with a 7th degree black belt which was his passion. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart.soul and mind and endevered to immulate HIM in all he did. He loved his church family and was friends to all.

Memorial Celebration of Life ceremony held 10 AM Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Southside Baptist Church 3320 S. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years Barbara Maisenhelder, daughter Patricia Hope,of Wilmington, mother Bess Maisenhelder,sister Tammy Maisenhelder of N. Augusta SC , brother Ken Maisenhelder of Greenvillle, SC, and his 7 month joy of his life granddaughter Diana Marie Maisenhelder.
