John (Jack) Rudolph Erdody, 76, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on Monday November 8, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with his family at his side.
Jack was born on May 2, 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, son of the late Zoltan and Elsie Erdody, and grew up in Roselle, NJ and Asheville, NC.
Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Ann Butler Erdody; sister, Jean Mayer and husband Ronald of Knoxville, TN; son, John Erdody and husband Frank Ruggiero of Madison, NJ; son, Todd Erdody and wife, Karen Webster and grandson, Kai Erdody of Bozeman, MT.
Jack graduated from North Carolina State University in 1967 with a degree in Civil Engineering and received an MBA from Rutgers University in 1971. He had a long and successful career with Exxon and Esso Europe, affording him and his family the opportunity to live in New Jersey, Venezuela, and England. After retiring, Jack and Martha moved to Wilmington, NC in 2004.
He was an active and involved member of All Saints Anglican Parish and served in a variety of positions for the Anglican Province of America. He also spent time volunteering for the Landfall Foundation, Kenan Chapel and the High Country Charitable Foundation of Banner Elk, NC. Jack loved woodworking, playing golf, and traveling for work and pleasure. His generosity and strong work ethic will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Anglican Parish on Monday December 6, 2021 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to All Saints Anglican Parish, located at 2623 N. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28401.
