Another great past time was treating everyone to what he thought was funny and humerous, but with a dry sarcastic humor.

He was a very special man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and all of his extended family members. He always kept in touch in everyone in his family and with his friends. He was passionate and displayed unwavering determination to get better after becoming sick six years ago. He never let it show and was always positive even with all of the difficulties he experienced. He had his own regular physical therapy routine he followed. Joe is loved by all of us so very much and he will be incredibly and truly missed.

It’s the friends you can call at 4 am that matter… Two early birds that could never sleep. Joe, I will miss our early morning chats. You were a wonderful person with a heart of gold and a true family man who loved deeply. Always caring and giving. I can’t think of a better blessing than to have known you as a friend. We always said we thought of each other [like] family but truthfully you were family. I will miss your bright light and thoughtful ways and your sweet sense of humor. You were taken way too soon and you will forever be missed. Love U bunches! May God take good care of you… Donna, we had some fun times and good laughs together and I will treasure those memories. My heart breaks for you. Sending you, your family and Joe’s family lots of hugs and prayers.

It is with a broken heart to know of the passing of Joseph Henry Shafer We will always remember what a wonderful, selfless person Joe was, and will always miss his heartfelt smile that came from his loving heart. His main concern was for his family, which we always found to be admirable. And no matter who met Joe, they always recognized that he was such a sweet man who loved God, family and music. Joe, May the Lord, wrap you in his arms and lead you through the gates of heaven, and may He embrace your very special soul as you rest in peace.
