Joseph Hodge Davis, age 77, went to meet our Lord on Thursday, Jan 24th,2013 in Castle Hayne.

He
was born in the Faison’s Old Tavern Community near Conway; where he will be laid to rest in the
Davis Family Cemetery. He was a member of Galatia Baptist Church. He was proceeded in death by
parents Arthur Turner Davis and Clara Jane Davis, sisters Ollie Taylor Eure and Elvira Butler.

Survivors include his children Jeannie Wade (John) of Wilmington NC, Joey Davis (Lisa) of Florence
SC, Jill Helm (Jeff) of Grand Prairie TX, Jim Davis (Erin) of Jacksonville FL, Jeff Davis (Dora) of
Carolina Beach NC; grandchildren Raina Brothers, Domenic Battelli, Adam Helm, Jobi McAllister,
Sean Helm, Chris Battelli, Johan Sanchez, Sierra Davis, Skye Davis, and Reef Davis; great
grandchildren Landon Battelli, Kendra Battelli and Zenobi Morse. He was also survived by brothers
Elliott Davis and Marion Davis (Linda), and many nieces and nephews. It is a large family who all
loved him very much.

His military service spanned from July 1955 through August 1975; including tours in Vietnam,
Thailand and Korea. After earning an Electrician Degree from Wilson County Technical Institute, he
worked another 20 years at Kmart in Wilmington; retiring with many lifelong friends. After his second
retirement he enjoyed many more years with with his friends at Surf City.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Friday February 1st at Port City Community Church in
Wilmington.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm on February 2nd at the Davis Family Cemetery in
the Faison’s Old Tavern Community.
