Joseph Larry Fennell

March 10, 1959 - February 3, 2023
Joseph Larry Fennell

Joseph Larry Fennell was born on March 10, 1959 in Wilmington, North Carolina at the New Hanover Regional Medical Hospital to Joseph Fennell and Laura J. Fennell.

Joseph was known to some as “Big Joe” or, as he liked to call himself, “Big Poppa”! Joe will always be remembered by his big, bright smile, laughter, and his love for his family. Most of all, the joy he shared in enjoying life. Joe was a great father, a loving son, an exciting brother, an awesome Uncle, a dedicated cousin, and loyal friend to many. Joe loved music, whether he was singing or trying to pluck the strings on his guitar. Joe was also a Williston Alumni.

He leaves to cherish his memory, son Joseph T. Fennell (Wilmington, NC), 3 sisters; Edith Williams – James Brunson (Wilmington, NC), Laurine Robinson – late Rayfield Robinson (Wilmington, NC), Mittie Burns – late Jimmie Burns (Durham, NC), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be a Memorial Service for Joseph on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00pm at the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church (504 S. 6th Street Wilmington, NC 28401), officiated by Rev. Timothy Davis.
