Joseph Michael Beery, 43 of Wilmington, NC formerly of Aberdeen, MD passed away January 28, 2009 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Joey was preceded in death by his father Wallace C. Beery, Jr., his paternal grandparents Wallace C. Beery, Sr, and Dorothy E. Beery, and maternal grandparents Roland A. Hughes and Lillie K. Hughes.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Beery, children Raven Beery and Joshua Lassiter, mother Elaine Beery of Aberdeen, MD., sister Deborah L. Beery, nieces Christina L. Sexton and Carla B. Burke, aunts Nancy B. Blackwelder, of Wilmington and Elaine B. Haug of Woodbridge, VA., and his faithful companion and dog, Lucky.

Joey was an enthusiastic fishermen and loved Sudoku.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Inurnment will follow service.

    My Dearest Nephew, You were my only brother's son, a very special person in our lives. How can I express my feelings at a time like this? I can only think back and reflect. You were unique, Joey, your own person.You lived your life to the fullest, never afraid to experience. Your pathway was a course of adventure, smiling every day along the way. It was hard for you to say goodbye. We should all take this time to reflect and give thanks for what we've done in our lives and what we have to look forward to in the future. If you haven't experienced, do so, if you have, look ahead and plan your future. I will miss you, gentle soul, but I know that you are in a better place and smiling down upon us as I write.
