Joseph Piqueras, age 84, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Joseph was born in Yonkers, New York on July 23, 1927, the son of Nicholas and Aurora Piqueras. He was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Okinawa, Japan; he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army attached to the 209th Military Police.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Aurora Immordino, and survived by brother, Nicholas Piqueras and sister, Pilar DiMaria and many nieces and nephews.
Joseph is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, June Piqueras; four children; Joseph Piqueras and wife Cecelia, Jeannette Piqueras, Nicholas Piqueras and wife Sherene, and June Bonser and husband Chris; grandchildren; Joseph Piqueras and Wife Aga, Thomas Piqueras and wife Maureen, Kristin Stillwaggon and husband Stephen, Nicholas Piqueras, Jessica FitzGerald and husband Patrick, John Piqueras, Katelyn Line, Ashley Piqueras, Rebecca Line, Elizabeth and Abigail Bonser; and six great-grandchildren: Erika, Joey, Kristina, Tommy, Taylor, and Patrick.
A living memorial with him and his family was conducted by his pastor, Reverend Chris Wroten, on Monday, February 20, 2012.
