On September 9, 2020, Joseph Samuel Walker, Jr., age 65, went to his heavenly home after experiencing a heart attack at his residence in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Joe was born on January 31, 1955 in Rocky Mount, NC, the son of late Joseph Samuel Walker and Carrie Jane Owens.

He leaves behind his wife of over 35 years, Nancy Boyd Walker, children, Chris Walker, Brent Walker, Jeremy Walker, Dan Walker (wife Jennifer), and Kim Newell (husband Terry-Michael). He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Spears, and brother, Stephen Ike Walker. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Anna, Curtis, Grayson, Bailey and Zoe.

Joe began his long career in textiles in the seventies at TexFi in Rocky Mount, N.C. From there, his career took him to the coastal communities of Ocean Isle, N.C; Pawley’s Island, SC; Long Beach, CA; and finally Wilmington, N.C.

Joe was known by family and friends as a sweet, giving man with a quick sense of humor. He loved well-made t-shirts, golf, country music, Gladiator, and pecan pie. Joe was so special in many ways and his friends and family will cherish their time with him.

The family will have a private service in memory of Joe.

Joe was a funny guy. A hoot to be around. Always cracking a joke with a straight face. Will miss the laughter and watching football!
