As the sun broke the darkness on July 13, 2023…1st Sergeant(Retired) Juan Rodriguez took his leave of this world as his spirit had blessed this Earth for 89 years with Kindness, Calm and Peace.
A decorated solider, Juan served 22 years in the United States Army, proudly representing not only his country, but his hometown of Gurabo, PuertoRico. Juan served two term during the Vietnam War, earning The Bronze Star. His favorite post, his last, an instructor in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
Juan, after his military retirement, spent 23 years gratefully working for General Electric, starting in the Nuclear Division and later moving to The Central Store. He was forever grateful to his brother in law, John Mallard for the recommendation. Enjoying his time at GE, on his retirement, he always claimed he wished he could have stayed.
Juan was proceeded in death by his wife of 52 years, Juanita Mallard Rodriguez. He lives on in the memory of his beloved Sister, Carmen as well as his 4 children, Sonia, Alberto, Johnny and Johnny Ray, as well as a family of wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Although the passing of Juan’s life, suffering from Dementia, was a blessing, it doesn’t compare to the blessings he left with the many people that spent time with this gracious personality.
In lieu of flowers, if you are willing, the family asks you remember the incredible people of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare/Hospice and if you are able, make a kind donation.
