Judith Loxley Achauer Kicos, age 79, of Wilmington, NC passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

She was born in Canton, Ohio the daughter of the late Dorothy Marie Eicher Loxley and Lawson Lee Loxley. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Achauer and Dr. John Kicos.

Judy graduated from Lehman High School in 1954 in Canton, Ohio then moved to Wilmington in 1987 and was employed by Haverty’s Furniture for over 13 years and Wicker Works. Her passions were gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie A. White and husband Dwight; son Jeff Achauer and wife Nancy of Columbus, OH; sister, Lana Fite and husband Keith of Canton, OH; brother, Richard Loxley of North Canton; three stepsons; step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 411 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC 28401.

    Sherrie and family, I first met your mother when I had a retail store in Canton and she helped me with a Master card set up from the bank. We quickly became friends and we loved being around Judy with her fun personality and infectious smile. She and I did some serious shopping at craft shows when she moved to Hartville to set up her home. What a beautiful woman inside and out. We lost touch when she moved to Wilmington and I missed her. Just last week my husband and I talked about Judy and wondered what was happening in her life and what a vibrant addition she was to ours. I just happened to see her beautiful photo in todays paper and was shocked. I pray that she did not suffer much. I'm so sorry for your loss and that of each who knew her.     Sherrie I am saddened to hear of the passing of your dear mom. She was quite an inspiration to me with her classy style, decorating skills, phenominal ability to cook and present a meal, love of plants and gardening all while being an all out fun woman to be around. I remember one fun evening at Blossom when we all went to see Donna Summer! And will never forget her spectacular Christmas parties. My love goes out to you. Maria

    Lana: I am sorry to learn of your loss. I will tell my cousin Ginnie Loutzenheiser and Ron Krumlauf... gone are our Stern and Mann days. I see you and your huscand still reside in Canton. So, when you get home, give me a call @ 330-268-5218 and since we have a major event coming up this fall, of which Ron will also be a part, it would be nice to have a reunion and share times past. How in Sam Hill, have we all aged like this? Dr. Kicos operated on be just a few weeks prior to his passing. I remember my neighbors the Frieedmans, were at your sister and doc's home off Applegrve at the time of Doc's passing. We all just loved your mother too, so sweet a lady and all the fun and laughter we shared per Stern and Mann's and of course, Glenwood days! I live at Mayfield Manor behind Canton Center Mall - Wal-Mart. It would be so nice to meet your husband. I will call Ron, today, right following church! Ginnie's husband, Dave, passed last year. Can't believe I will be 70 this coming August! UGH. And, yes, I have some health issues. I also think about Bev Polen, I wonder if she is still living?
