Julia Mae Crumpler Hewett, age 89 of Wilmington passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her daughters home in Smithfield, NC.
Julia was born on December 24, 1932 to the late George Crumpler and Julia Mae Renew Crumpler. She was the widow of Harvey Daniel Hewett, Sr., who passed away in 1990.
Also preceded in death by a son, Harvey Daniel Hewett, Jr.; three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Ann Davis and husband Lloyd Earl Davis of Smithfield and son, William Earl “Bouncer” Hewett and wife Sharon Hewett of Wilmington; grandchildren, Judy Johnson of Smithfield, Rebecca Saadeh of Wilmington, Daniel Hewett of Boone, William E. “Bebop” Hewett of Wallace, Angie Web of Wilmington, Toyna Cottle of Morehead City, and Tonya Long of Wilmington; great grandchildren, Gracie, Lilly, Julianna, Rema, Sarah, Caleb, Tessa, Jackson, Kevin, Chandler, Gabriel, Rooter, Allen, Daniel, Marcel, and Maurice; and several great great grandchildren.
Julia was a dedicated wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother and was well known for her home cooked meals and canning. She was a Foster Grandparent for the Senior Center and a volunteer at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She had served as a waitress at several restaurants in Wilmington and she enjoyed working and meeting folks. She was also a Nanny to many children form infants to pre-school children.
Visitation for her family and friends will be from 6-8 pm Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday, January 31, 2022 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel led by Rev.Judy Porter of Abundant Harvest Ministries. Burial will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens beside her beloved husband. Her pallbearers will be Bebop, Lloyd, Larry, Dexter, and Caleb.
