Kathryn Ellen Hoffard, age 94, of Wilmington, NC, died on Sunday, 02/09/2014. She was born on 04/27/1919 to the late Charles and Josephine Drott in Cincinatti, Ohio. Formerly of Nashville, NC, she moved to Wilmington, NC, where she lived with her grandaughter. She was a devoted member of Rock Creek Baptist Church for over 30 yrs., enjoyed doing for others and spending time with her family; also, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, walking, bowling, and bingo, and loved animals.

In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her daughters,Laura Janet Towner Bucher and Mary Helen Rogers, her brothers, and 2 grandsons: Christopher and Jeffrey Murphy, and 2 Great-grandchildren: Ryan Murphy and Lindsay Glore.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Greg, Michael, Shari, and Jennifer Murphy, Lynn, Scott, and Sam Rogers; 7 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great Grandchildren; neices and nephew, Helen Jetter, Millie Burton, and Charles Thomas Drott; and many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Nashville, NC, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2014 officiated by Reverend Blake Dempsey.

    My first thought when I heard that Grandma Hoffard had passed away, was that she was now reunited with Grandma Bucher and Aunt Mary again. This thought made me smile, rather that frown. Heaven is rejoicing with the addition of this sweet woman that we all knew as Granny. :)
