Kathy Jean Barnes Bowman, 63, of Hampstead died on July 24, 2022 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Covington, KY on October 29, 1958 to Dale and Joyce Barnes who preceded her in death.

Kathy was full of adventure and fun. In her youth she participated in western style horseback riding competitions and was crowned Miss. Clark County, Kentucky. As she got older, she helped her father fly arial signs and developed a love for boating and water sport, ultimately leading her to the North Carolina coast. Kathy loved the Kentucky Wild Cats basketball team and would travel all over to watch them. Kathy worked as Director of IT and retired from RAI, once retired her and her husband moved to Hampstead, North Carolina. She also loved movies and was known to have a few favorite quotes. Kathy was fiercely protective of her family and her greatest joy was being GiGi to Zoya.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Gary Bowman, daughter Stephanie Laverde and husband John Paul, brothers; Mike Barnes and wife Darlene, Jeff Barnes, Greg Barnes, and Tim Barnes, granddaughter Zoya Laverde, many friends, and extended family.

    Kathy was a dear friend to me in our high school years. She was always there with a listening ear. I had no idea she was in NC or that she was sick…we lost contact. I see that Gary passed recently and was shocked to read that Kathy had already passed as well. I love you guys and I am so so sorry for your loss ♥️
