Katrinka Brette Webb, age 71, passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter on Saturday, August 3, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of James Duncan Webb and Margaret Ann Glenzer Webb, she was born August 18, 1941 in New York City. In 1993 she moved to Wilmington, NC where a year later she started a new career in the medical field working 17 years for Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter. She worked as a volunteer coordinator for many of those years and so loved and respected them she would often be heard saying they were responsible for making her the person she became. Upon retiring, Katrinka remained friends with many of her volunteers and hospice family coworkers. She was a member of Toastmasters International of Wilmington, volunteered at the Wilmington International Airport information booth and was an officer in her homeowners association.

Katrinka is survived by her children Kristin Brette Yokota, James Andrew Yokota, her sister Margaret Ann Smith, nephew Michael Dixon Smith and fiancé Chastity Fizzard, son Gabriel Duncan Smith, daughter Ariella Haselsteiner and baby Camille Reese Smith; nephew Philip Duncan Smith and wife Kathleen and son Colin, nephew Stephen Smith and dearest friend Steve Boekell who stood by her through thick and thin.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held in the Heritage Gardens at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00am.

    Ana says:
I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3,4 states "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death. Hope these words give you a new hope. jw.org

We didn't know Katrinka very well but we did know that she was a very special friend to Steve, and for this we were thankful. It was a joy to know here as much as we did. Our deepest sympathy to all in the family and to Steve.
