Memorial Gifts & Donations

Kenneth “Kenny” E. Johnson passed away on September 13, 2021, at the age of 55, in his hometown of Wilmington, NC, after suffering a tragic head injury. He was surrounded by family and friends during his final moments.

Upon completing his Civil Engineering degree at NC State, he spent over 27 years building custom homes, working as a project manager for both retail and commercial developments along the East Coast, and was the Project Manager at RiverLights. Kenny’s great work ethic showed in his dedication to his career and extended to his service to his church, Winter Park Baptist.

The things in life that brought Kenny joy were helping others, home improvement projects, woodworking, cooking outdoors, and watching all NC State sporting events – Go Pack! He especially enjoyed annual vacations, helping his boys with projects, and coaching them in basketball. His selflessness shined through in everything he did.

Kenny is survived by Libby, his loving and beautiful wife of 35 years. He was a proud father to his sons, Brandon and Zack, and a loving father-in-law to their wives, Liz and Carrie. He is also survived by his mother Barbara, his brothers Stan (Dwayne) and Tim, his uncle and aunt, Neal and Peggy Easom, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Winter Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Columbarium Fund at the church, located at 4700 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28403.
