Kevin Leo Durant, of Wilmington, NC passed away on October 15, 2022, at his residence, completing his journey of 41 years.

Kevin Leo Durant, Kev Dee, KD had an artist’s soul. He was a light spreader and smile maker. Some of his passions included making beats, DJ-ing around town, listening to music, attending live shows, going on tour, playing instruments, a taper for life, disc golf, Arsenal soccer, Carolina basketball, custom clothes preferred, lover of crystals, connecting with loved ones, sunsets on the beach, camping, hiking, and keeping his yard on point. Kev enjoyed the sweetness of life. He loved being a part of the music scene in Wilmington and played in most local spots with other beloved musicians. Kevin had a tapestry of friends from all over and when you met him you were a brother or sister for life. Kev had a crew everywhere he went. His smile could fill a room and his hug would fill your heart. He was known for being a loving, kind and quick-witted son, brother, uncle, friend, and bandmate. His generous heart, uncanny sense of humor, and ability to make you feel like you are his best bud were a few of his super powers. He loved true connections, a deep laugh, a good song, and being with his friends exploring the next adventure. Kev enjoyed supporting the art talents of those he loved. He took pride in caring for his family and friends and making sure everything was E-X-A-C-T-L-Y right!

Raised on the coast in Jacksonville, NC, Kevin attended White Oak and Jacksonville High School where he played soccer for the JHS Cards. His first job at the local Andy’s Music Store is where his love of music became a passion. He celebrated life fully and loved the outdoors, spending time with loved ones, and ALL things music.
Kevin died in his home days before his 42nd birthday in Wilmington, NC.

Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Laura Durant, sisters and brothers, Misty, Larry, Tanya and Kenney, all of Jacksonville. Nieces and Nephews; Mikayla, Carl, Mikey, McKenzie and Kenneth Jr., cousins, other relatives and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Durant.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Kevin at Fragrance Park, 1963 Amphitheater Drive. Adjacent to the Greenfield Amphitheater in Wilmington, NC on Sunday, November 6th at 11am.
