Memorial Gifts & Donations

Kim passed away on September 4th after a year long battle with cancer. She endured two surgeries and chemotherapy while bravely fighting her illness. She was determined to enjoy her remaining time with dear friends and family.

We will remember Kim as a creative, insightful and intelligent being. She suffered losses and trauma as a child and spent much of her life working to identify what was holding her back and reached peace as she created the home she had dreamed of and deep relationships with cherished friends and family. She is admired for her inner strength, independence, and determination. We are in awe of her creative talents as a poet and teacher, an artist, a chef, and a designer. Most of all, Kim will be missed as a loyal and doting friend and family member who was able to see the best in others and support those she loved deeply.

Kim will be greatly missed by her sisters, Dale Clarke and Carolyn Blair, her brothers-in-law David and Mark, her niece Allison (Nicholas) Nigro, and her nephews Bradley (Meghan) Clarke and Ryan (Gabriela) Clarke. She thoroughly enjoyed watching their children, Madeline, Natalie and Eleanor grow and being part of their lives. Kim was also a devoted animal lover and parent to her dog Moki who was always at her side.

Kim made special friends including those from Lake Bluff where she grew up, friends from college at Southern Illinois University and work years in southern Illinois, those she developed in Chicago while teaching at Columbia College and married to Nicholas Barron, and fellow poets from her time at University of Vermont. Thank you to everyone who reached out and supported her as she battled the past year. She treasured the time she shared with those she loved deeply. We also want to thank her lifelong friends Nell, Jeannie, Kim and Linda who visited often, offered their nursing expertise and laughed with Kim when she needed it the most. Kim’s hardy and joyous laugh and her loving heart will be missed but never forgotten!
