Kimberly Hope Ward

Memorial Gifts & Donations

On October 5, 1965, a bright light–a tiny baby girl–burst into our lives bringing love and joy. It wasn’t long before she became our living doll.  She grew into a bouncing,  blonde, blue-eyed, pig-tailed toddler, loving every minute of life with her evident sense of humor which was infectious, bringing antics and laughter into an often-challenging environment. She was indeed a welcomed gift given to brighten our days with “hope,” which aptly was her middle name.

On May 12, 2023, that bright light was greatly dimmed, as she walked a solemn path into the arms of Jesus. Her name is Kimberly Hope Ward. She is our baby sister. More often than not, she was deeply troubled and haunted; yet, intermittently her light would surface just enough to remind us of her brilliance in the midst of great darkness.

Kimberly is survived by her two sisters, Scheryl Chadwick (Gary Szymanski) of Chesapeake, VA, and Connie Adkins Raby (Tom) of Edenton, NC; nephew David Chadwick of Chesapeake,  VA; second cousin, Philip K. Perlmutter of Edenton, NC; her life-long friend, Christie Petry of Portsmouth, VA; and beloved friends, Hester and Jim Simpkins of Roper, NC. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Brown Ward, her father, Keith Horace Ward, and her son, Larry Stephen Brown, Jr.

Kim, we love you, miss you and pray that your soul has found its place of restful peace.

I just heard ... She was on my mind not so long ago, wondering where her and Phil have gone too. We lost touch over a year ago, for awhile Kim and Phil were great friends of mine, then they disappeared. I'm sorry for her loss. Hope Phil is ok. I hope the rest of the family is coping ok as well, but I know Phil and her were close cousins. I'm just in shock..if anyone can tell me something, I would appreciate it. snoopygirl@inteliport.com

Remembering that beautiful, blond haired/blue eyed toddler who lived next door in the neighborhood! She was such a sweet and funny little girl who grew up to be a beautiful woman! She looked so much like her Mom. Rest in peace Kim - you will not be forgotten!
