Kimberly Kay Hubbard, 49, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, after battling pancreatic cancer. Her loving husband, Jason, was at her side.

Kimberly was a graduate of Canisius College and was raised in Homer, NY. A lifelong lover of animals, in 2008 Kim co-founded Hubbard’s Hounds Dog Rescue. Kim was passionate about animal rescue and was instrumental in saving the lives of hundreds of abused and neglected dogs. Kim relocated to North Carolina 2 years ago, where she embraced her artistic side and became passionate about painting and other creative mediums.  She was known and loved by all she met for her kindness, humor and generous spirit.

Kimberly is survived by her husband Jason, mother Barbara, sisters Vicki (Jim) and Patty, brother Steven (Susan). She was “Aunt Kim” to nieces and nephews Stacy (Steve) and children Kendall and Chloe, John (Nakia) and children Kaia and Kenzie, Ashley (Matt) and children Colby, Brenner and Briley Bennet,  Amber (Ryan), Miley, Emily, Lillian, Evelyn, Lauren and Derek.

She is pre-deceased by her father Allen, and brother Jake.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering to be held on Monday, August 6, 20118, from 4:00pm till 8:00pm at The Oceanic Restaurant, 703 S. Lumina Avenue, Wrightsville Beach, NC.

Her positive attitude during her final struggle and her dedication to the animals was inspiring & I'm confident that there was a huge celebration with hundreds of animals at the Bridge.
