Kitty Hackney White, 88, of Wilmington, wife of 63 years to the late Robert Bailey White, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born in Chatham County, NC on September 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Junious Joseph “J.J.” and Kate Marks Hackney. She was a member of Pittsboro United Methodist Church and formerly worked at the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill until her retirement to Wilmington.
Surviving, are her son, Robert “Biff” White (Denise) of Wilmington; daughter, Patsy Perkins (Arthur “Perk”) of Pittsboro, NC; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn White, Mesha Batts, Chance Perkins; and a great-grandson, Dalton Batts. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Brant M. Hackney.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Haywood Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Moncure, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; 2202 Wrightsville Ave, Suite 111; Wilmington, NC 28403.
