Kitty Margo King Richardson, “Ms Kitty” of Wilmington N.C. passed away after a short battle with Covid – 19 on Monday, January 11, 2021. Ms. Kitty was born in Columbus County, NC to Hardie and Mary King, and made her life and career in the city she loved, Wilmington N.C.
Ms. Kitty was the widow of her beloved husband James O’Neal Richardson, Sr. who passed away January 26, 2011, after 51 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by her son, James O’Neal Richardson, Jr. (Neal), and wife Melissa of Orlando Fl., and her daughter Regina Richardson Hawse and husband Charles (Randy), of Wilmington, N.C., sister Eula Mae Potter and husband Edgar, (Buck) of Wilmington, N.C., brother Andrew King and wife Martha of Wilmington, N.C., adopted son, Dr. David Strickland of Wilmington, N.C., special friend Charles Swinson of Currie, N.C. and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Ms. Kitty was a faithful member and ruling Elder of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church, and was retired from West Coast Lumber Company with over 30 years of service. Ms. Kitty was active in the community and loved participating in politics and volunteering for many charities and events. She loved to travel and continued her work with her family operating Rich Tours Travel in Wilmington for over 30 years.
Ms. Kitty was a bright and shining star, and lit up the room anywhere she went. We already miss her voice, her infectious smile, her mischievous personality, and her beautiful blue eyes. She did so many things for people that no one ever knew about, without glory or credit. Her kind and loving spirit will be missed, and her passing will be a void in our life, and in our community. She was everyone’s biggest champion and advocate. We will miss her forever. Life will never be the same without her.
It was always Ms. Kitty’s wish to have a big party and gathering at her passing, but out of respect for others, and social distancing because of Covid – 19, a virtual tribute will be held instead. This compilation of tributes, music and photos will be posted on YouTube and Facebook for all to watch and celebrate her life. A private burial will be held for family at a later date. The family requests no food or flowers but suggests making memorials to her memory at Cape Fear Presbyterian Church https://bit.ly/35xUY6x, or Methodist Home for Children bit.ly/MHCgift.
