Koln Sherwood (Bud) Shaver, 84, of Kure Beach, NC passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Trinity Grove of Wilmington.

Bud was born on March 5, 1938 in Mt. Jackson, VA to Walter M., Sr. and Anna Katherine Shaver. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gloria M. Shaver, a son, Kevin Brent Shaver, and two grandchildren, Adler and Sawyer Anderson.

Bud is survived by Linda P. Shaver, his wife of 60 years, a daughter, Teresa S. Anderson (Aaron), two granddaughters, Emma Grace and Anna Brook Anderson, a grandson, Joshua Brent Shaver, who is currently deployed overseas with the U.S. Air Force, a brother, Walter M. Shaver, Jr. (Alice), a sister, Bonnie S. Bowman (Danny) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bud spent four years in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Triplett High School in Mt. Jackson in 1956. He spent many years employed by the Albemarle County Service Authority in Charlottesville, VA. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Kure Beach, NC in 2000, where he spent many happy years enjoying the beach, playing cards, gardening, and living his best life.

Bud will be remembered for his kind and helpful spirit, his love for his family, his enjoyment of food, and his aspiration to “hit the big one” on a scratch lottery ticket! You will never find anyone who has ever had an unkind word to say about Bud…he truly was one of the good guys. Heaven got another angel today as he joins his beloved Kevin.

The graveside service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.

The family would like to share their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at Trinity Grove for the loving care they showed Bud throughout his final years.

    Bud Shaver was truly one of the good guys. I was privileged to work with Bud for many years at ACSA. He was honest, hard working, knowledgable, and a pleasure to be around. I was honored that Bud took the time to send me a note when I retired 16 years ago. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family.
