Kristin Alverna Jennings, age 39 of Leland, NC, sadly and unexpectedly passed away in her bed on September 12, 2021.

Kristin was born in Forsyth County, NC on November 25, 1981 to Michael and Karen Jennings.

Kristin received her GED from Forsyth Technical Community College, where her father attended, and proceeded to study to be a Registered Nurse at the same college. Kristin also worked with her mother at a warehouse for a time. After graduating from Forsyth Tech, Kristin started working at Coastal Horizons in Wilmington, NC. Everyone there just loved her and gravitated toward her, as she was such a kind and generous soul. Kristin was lovingly known as “Cupcake” by her coworkers. She lit up a room and was always happy to help others. She exuded a positive energy that others could not help but be attracted to. When Kristin wasn’t working, she enjoyed attending music events around town. She grew to know lots of live musicians in the Wilmington area and attended their shows often. Kristin also loved animals, especially cats and hedgehogs, as she had 6 cats of her own and bred hedgehogs in the past. Kristin will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that had the opportunity to know her in her lifetime.

Kristin in survived by her parents Michael and Karen Jennings, her half brother Brian Hundley (Michelle), two uncles who loved her very much, Rick Zimmerman (Cheryl) of Germington, NC and Daryl Jennings (Debbie) of Lewisville, NC, many cousins, 2nd and 3rd generations, in NC and PA, her long time friend Amy Nichole, her boyfriend Travis, and many other extended family members and friends.

Nurse Kristin was truly a light of kindness and love in this world. Her warm smile and kind eyes always brightened up my day! She was beautiful on the inside to match her gorgeous exterior. She spread her joyous light to everyone lucky enough to interact with her. I can truly say she has had a positive impact on my life. She will be greatly missed. God has called upon one of his most precious angels. We will miss your beautiful presence...but God has bigger fish for you to fry. We love you!

Baby hedgehog, it’s been 1 week and 1 day since you left earth. It’s been so hard knowing we at coastal horizon will not be physically together as a family but we know in spirit you are there. I loved working with you and you were so precious to us. My heart is so sore and tears just pour out everyday. I miss you so much. You were very much like a daughter and a sister to me! Thank you for your encouragement and inspiration! And just for being a gentle great friend. You stayed positive even if things were rough. Baby hedgehog I am missing you everyday! I am so heart broken to know i will never see you again. I didnt realize that last Saturday would be the last time i'd see you. There is so much I wish I had said to you! I hope you knew how much you were loved! When i first started at coastal you were so friendly and kind to me. I always enjoyed working with you, and felt like I knew you for a life time. I remember your colorful hair. It fit your personality. You were a Ray of Sunshine to those who knew you. Your laugh was great and always made me smile. You had a big heart for people, and loved helping anytime you could. This week has been shocking and difficult. Rest in peace my friend. The movie you recommended to me "strange Magic" will always remind me of you. Love ya and miss you my friend. My heart goes out to Kristin's parents. Losing a child is very difficult. I know because I lost a daughter. Im here if you need a friend. I'm truly sorry for your loss!
