Lachlan “Mac” John MacNeish 84, of Wilmington formally of Long Island, NY died Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the Davis Community, with his family at his side.

Mac was born in Lynbrook, NY on August 18, 1937, the son of the late William and Margaret Moore MacNeish. He spent his life in the Syosset Fire Department on Long Island as a Fire Fighter, Dispatcher, and Fire Inspector. Prior to his Fire Service, he served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. Also preceding him in death are his wife’s Jessie Clausman MacNeish and Diane Hammond MacNeish; brothers Bill and Gerald MacNeish.

Surviving are his sons Lachlan MacNeish Jr. and wife Jennifer; Tom MacNeish; and Doug MacNeish and wife Charlee; daughter Andrea Charlotte Janssen and husband Ulli; six grandchildren Emily Knotts MacNeish; Chloe Mabe; Austin Douglas and Bella Marie MacNeish; Sebastian Benjamin and Anne Victoria Janssen.

A Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church 4849 Castle Hayne Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens will full firefighter honors.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
