Memorial Gifts & Donations

Lillian “Nell” Watson Malpass, age 72 of Leland, NC, sadly passed away at Novant Health/New Hanover Regional Medical Center on March 24, 2022.

Lillian was born on October 17, 1949 to the late Daniel Paul and Bertha Orene Watson in Wilmington, NC.

Lillian might not have had children of her own, but she was a second mother to many. Loving referred to as “Aunt Nell”, she helped care for the children in the neighborhood, as well as her nieces, nephews, and their children. There was always a place at her table for anyone to come and eat (and gossip, as she loved to do). As a child, Lillian contracted polio, which left her using crutches throughout her life. She never let this stop her from doing anything that she set her mind to. Lillian will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Lillian is survived by her sister Janice Watson, her nieces Tammy Gore, Peggy Gore, and Kristi Watson, her dear friend Brenda Pellum, who was like a sister to her, her precious dog Dixie, and any other extended family members and friends. In addition to both her aforementioned parents, Lillian is predeceased by her husband of 9 years Gary Wanford Malpass.

There will be a Visitation on Tuesday, March 29, from 2:00pm – 3:00pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00pm at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation at the Wilmington Chapel. All are welcome to attend.
