Memorial Gifts & Donations

Linda Ann Arrington Satterfield 83, of Wilmington, NC died Saturday evening February 5, 2022, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare.

Linda was born in Hollister, NC on December 18, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert Henry Arrington, Sr. and Ruth Buchanan Arrington. Preceding her in death were her husband of 44 years Eugene Thomas Satterfield, Jr.; her brother Colonel Samuel Arrington; and sisters Evelyn A. Harris; Mary A. Johnston and Alma Rowe.

Linda was a lifelong Christian. An avid gardener with a green thumb, Linda had very exacting landscaping requirements. She was a magician in the kitchen, taking a spoonful of this and a handful of that and turning it into a delicious southern homestyle meal. She kept pots simmering on the stove with an aroma that could tempt even the most steadfast dieter to stop for a sample. She was a meticulous housekeeper, making sure that things were always in order in case guests stopped by. Linda was fashionable- always dressed to the nines. Her well-manicured nails were frequently on display as she held her favorite drink- diet coke. She told the best bedtime stories, first to her two boys as they grew into men, and then to her grandchildren. Her “creep mouse” story, together with back scratches, could put any child to sleep, even on Christmas Eve. Most importantly, Linda was a loving, loyal and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her.

Surviving are sons Mike Satterfield and wife Jacqui; Scott Satterfield and wife Twyla; granddaughters Katelyn Satterfield; Lauren Satterfield and Ashley Satterfield all of Wilmington. Also surviving are a brother Robert H. Arrington, Jr., and wife Ann of Hollister, NC.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Oleander Memorial Gardens. Reverend David Haley will officiate the service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice for all of the care that was given to Linda.

    Leigh Anne Behen says:
I'll never forget when Tommy was looking for a snake across the street. He had a rake and we were standing in the street looking down at the neighbor's yard. Mrs.Linda snuck up behind him, yelled "Boo" and poked him in his ribs. He jumped so high! We all got a good laugh. Mrs.Linda had a great sense of humor. I know she's dearly missed. Condolences to all her family and friends. Love, Leigh Anne
