Memorial Gifts & Donations

Lola Jean Stevenson passed away quietly on March 15, 2024. She was born on January 24, 1941 in Belhaven, North Carolina to William Hubert Harris and Lala Smith Harris. Lola Jean moved to Williamston in 1950 with her family. Lola Jean had two sisters; Doris Cutrell and Adelaide Roberson.

On June 24, 1962 Lola Jean married David Stevenson. They lived in Virginia during the early days of their marriage and moved to Wilmington in 1968. Lola Jean enjoyed singing hymns and playing the piano. People slowed down as they passed her home to admire the yard, flowers, and trees. Her homemade afghans, knitted scarves, crocheted collars, and ceramic pieces brought joy to those that received these items.

Lola Jean Stevenson was preceded in death by her husband, James David Stevenson, who died on December 7, 2019, her parents William and Lala Harris, and her sister Doris Cutrell.

She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Lanier; a son, Mark Stevenson; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Adelaide (Russell) Roberson.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Jean will be held on March 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park. May she rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Cape Fear Baptist Church at the link above at “Memorial Gifts and Donations”.

We will miss Miss Jean and all the wonderful stories she told about her younger years. We enjoyed taking her shopping and for ice cream. She loved buying shoes! She was such a sweet person who loved the Lord and was kind to everyone. Now she is rejoicing with the Savior.

    Eddie and Christy Roberts says:
It was such a joy to know Mrs. Jean (and Mr. David). We loved seeing her at church and know she had a hard time after Mr. David passed away. God can bring comfort during this time to those who know him., just lean on Him. Mrs. Jean and Mr. David are back together with Jesus in Heaven. She will be missed here on earth.
