Louis Henry Tatum, 71, of Wilmington passed away June 6, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

Louis was born in Wilmington, NC on September 2, 1943 to William Henry Tatum and Lessie Brown Tatum. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School and later moved to Ivanhoe, NC. He married Edwina Wooten in 1970 and resided in Wilmington, NC. In 1974 they moved to Clinton, NC and returned to Wilmington in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Edwina; two sons, Louis Henry Tatum, Jr., wife Beth, and Jeffery Tatum; one daughter, Allison Ashton, husband Marc; grandchildren, Conner Tatum, Hannah, Lauren and Jessica Tatum, William and Loralai Ashton; two sisters, Miriam Kidd (Sterling) and Nancy Willey (Bobby). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Louis was employed with Becker Builders Supply for 27 years and later retired from Classic Window and Door. He was an avid deer hunter, known as “Big Daddy”, and was President of the John Moore Ivanhoe Hunting Club for 25 years. He was an active member and former President of The Exchange Club of Greater Wilmington.

A visitation of family and friends will be held Thursday, June 11, 2105 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel from 6-8:00 PM. Private funeral services will be at a later date.
