Lucio “Lou” “Bones” “JR” Vidal Gonzales, age 85 of Hampstead, NC, sadly passed away at his home on the 4th of April, 2023.
Lucio was born on February 12, 1938 to the late Lucio and Irene Gonzales in San Antonio, TX.
After high school he enlisted in the US Navy. Upon his discharge, he worked for Lockheed Martin in California and for the US Government in Panama. He returned to San Antonio and married the love of his life, Lucy, and together they raised four children. In 1968 he got a job with the Federal Government working flight line maintenance at Kelly AFB, where he would retire after 30 years of service. He also enlisted in the Army National Guard where he would serve 18 years before retiring.
Lucio was always willing to help anyone in need and had a talent for making friends wherever he went. He loved to spend time with his family, play golf, barbecue, and to work on his lawn and in his Garden. Lucio was a devoted lifetime fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. Lucio’s kindness, generosity, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lucio is survived by his loving wife Lucy, his daughter Georgette Lamey and her children Kristin & Aftan, his sons Michael (Janine) and their children Stephanie & Thomas, Henry, and Raymond (Karen Barbour) and their children Jeremiah & Joshua, his sister Doris Lujan (Gilbert), brothers Raymond and Roy (Candy), and sisters-in-law Nancy and Blanca and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his aforementioned parents, Lucio is preceded in death by his brothers Henry, Richard, and Robert, his sister-in-law Ester and nephews Gilbert “Sonny” Jr. and Arne.
There are no services planned at this time. Lucio will be inurned at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at a later date.
