Lydia Aguilera Brewer, 86, of Wilmington passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Monday November 14, 2022 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

Lydia was born in Los Angeles, CA on March 13, 1936 the daughter of the late Alfred Louis and Elisa Jacobo Aguilera. She was a devoted mother, wife, friend, and grandmother.

Lydia enjoyed spending time with her family, and also enjoyed watching her beloved Old Western movies. She really enjoyed being a volunteer at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Lydia was a wonderful cook and always wanted her family to be together.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Lisa Marie Allred and her loving and devoted husband Nevin Brewer Sr.

Surviving Lydia is her brother Alfred Aguilera and wife Anita, her children Sandra Garner and husband Paul Garner Jr, Sam Nevarez and wife Myra Nevarez, Larry Nevarez, and Nevin Brewer Jr. and wife Sophia Brewer, and her son-in-law Jim Allred. Lydia had seven grandchildren, Joshua Allred, Paul David Garner III and partner Anthony Lamb, Jason Allred, Hannah Strickland and husband Myles Strickland, Elisa Nevarez, William Brewer, and Despina Brewer. As well as three great-grandchildren, Hayden Allred, Theodore Allred, and Violet Allred. Lydia also had numerous nephews and nieces.

Donations can be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

Family and friends visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Friday, November 18, 2022 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Castle Hayne, NC. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
