Margaret Elizabeth Dale Malpass 97, of the Delco Community passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Premier Living of Lake Waccamaw, NC with her family by her side.
She was born on October 23, 1924 in Freeman, NC, the daughter of the late Mamie Mintz Dale and Madison (Matt) Dale. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ashford Malpass; son, Gene Malpass, six brothers, Edison Dale, Warren Dale, Charlie Dale, Theodore Dale, Robert Dale and Johnnie Dale; and three sisters, Grace Benson, Dora Benson, and Virginia Malpass.
Margaret earned her Diploma from Delco High School in 1940. She and her husband Ashford owned several businesses throughout the years, including Malpass Logging for over 50 years and she served as the secretary for the length of the business. They employed many people in the community throughout the years of the business. She was a very accomplished business woman and owned several properties in the community. She served on the Board of International Paper Co. for 2 years and was a active member of Woodman of the World where she held several titles, and earned several awards.
Margaret loved her church, Piney Grove Advent Christian Church of which she was a member all of her life. She played the piano for many years there and served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was involved in almost every event and function at the church until her health caused her to be unable to serve. She loved her Church and her Church Family very much.
Margaret had a very strong work ethic and she instilled that in her children and others. She was someone who would help anyone who was down and out, and if she knew you were hungry, she could cook up a 21 course meal in 15 minutes. She was always there to anyone in need. All of her accomplishments are worth merit, but the family is most grateful for her many acts of kindness and her investments into the lives of others. She was also an excellent and successful home gardener and cook.
She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
Left to honor her life, is her son, Shelton Malpass (Sharon) of Wrightsboro; daughter Annette Malpass (Darin Jackson) of Council, and daughter in-law Pattie Malpass of Delco; nine grandchildren, Ashton Malpass (Hope), Candie Lawson (Chris), Sloan Barber (Shane), Amy Smith (Jeff), Anthony Malpass (Leslie), Betsy Crowder (Joe), Grant Hinson, Brian Robinson, and April Martin; 20 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; one brother Ezra Dale of Leland, and many nieces and nephews.
