Memorial Gifts & Donations

Margaret Marie Dunnigan Babson 77, of Wilmington, NC  passed away Sunday December 4, 2022.

She was born in High Point, NC on April 9, 1945; daughter of the late Thomas Lee Dunnigan and Mildred Lewellyen Dunnigan Meadows. Margaret was also preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Graham and brother, Don Dunnigan.

Margaret attended Wrightsboro Baptist Church. From humble beginnings, as a member of North Carolina’s foster-care program, Margaret helped create a loving home and family of her own. Margaret, or “Momma” as her boys called her, was a woman of faith and Wardie’s wife for 58 years. She cared for and loved her entire family, but her nurturing spirit extended to all visitors. Wardie and Margaret opened their home to neighboring kids and treated them as their own.

Throughout Margaret’s life she battled formidable health concerns.  She came out of each challenge stronger in her faith and love for others.  No matter what her hardships she would never be heard complaining. She lived to hear about her family’s adventures and stories. Margaret was her boys’ biggest fan.  She also enjoyed gardening and baking.  Friends and family would always say Margaret’s green thumb was something special while eating her homemade pound cake. She was an amazing wife, momma, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.  Her passionate, loving spirit will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Wardie Babson, three sons; Andy Babson (Liz), Robert Babson (Stephanie) and John “Snake” Babson (Misty), brother; Bob Dunnigan, Sister; Dianne Gant, 5 grandchildren; A J Babson (Ashley), Matthew Babson (Friend, Kendra Bartlett), Elena Babson, Hazel Babson and Emma Babson and numerous nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday December 10, 2022 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with Pastor Lee Proctor officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dementia Society of America, Post Office Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 USA.

I could not have raised my children with out Ms Margaret. She was apart of our family. Not just my next door neighbor. My kids are who they are today because of her and Wardie.
