Margie H. Bowen, age 82 of Wilmington passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.

Margie was born on May 10, 1936, in Whiteville, NC the daughter of Woodrow Wilson Ward and Rosa Bell Norris Ward.

She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. She loved her church and reading her Bible and enjoyed Word Search puzzles. She loved her Lord and is now in the arms of Jesus.

Margie is survived by her children, Bobby Long and wife Paulette, Allen Long and wife Judy, Wayne Long and wife Phyllis, Richard Long and wife Janet,and Sheila Anderson; step-children, Michael Bowen, Bill Bowen, and Patty Bowen; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eldridge Ward and Billy Ward and wife Modena. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Bowen, stepson Steve Bowen, grandson Nathan Long and grandson Aaron Long; and brothers Jimmy Ward and Bobby Ward.

The family will see friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Freedom Baptist Church 802 N. College Rd., Wilmington. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Long, Brandon Long, William Ward, Chris Ward, James Arnold and Kevin Columby.

Following the graveside service the family will receive friends at the home of Wayne and Phyllis Long, 307 Hidden Valley Road-Wilmington, NC 28409.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401

The family would like to thank the Medical staff of the 7th and 10th floors at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their kindness and care during her stay there.
