Memorial Gifts & Donations

Marie Ellen Kramer of North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the age of 89, just a few short weeks before her 90th birthday.  She was born in Bloomington, Illinois to Walter and Ila Peifer.  Marie was the eldest of 3 sisters. Her family settled in Colorado where she met and married her husband of 62 years, Paul Kramer, who passed away in 2017.  Marie and Paul moved often and lived in many states and many houses throughout their married life.

Marie was an avid bowler into her 80s.  She was a great cook and loved to sew, garden and bird watch.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother.  Nothing was more important to her than her family.  Marie stayed home to raise her children until her youngest was in Jr. High school.  She then went to work in the library at the school.  She made improving the library her cause.  Though she and Paul moved many times before settling in the Carolinas, she always found a library in need of her expertise.  She will be remembered by her family and friends as a beautiful woman with quiet, intelligent strength and a spunky spirit.

Marie is survived by her three children, Bruce Kramer, Lisa Hoffman & Ann Smith, her 6 grandchildren, Daniel, Jaclyn, Courtney, Kristin, Elizabeth and Joshua and her great- granddaughter Paulina.

Memorial service will be held 11 am Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
