Marilyn Thompson

Memorial Gifts & Donations

February 21st early in the morning, Marilyn Rae (Boyette) Thompson, age 84 of Castle Hayne got the call she had been looking for. She won the trip of a lifetime…All expenses paid in blood to Beulah Land! She wanted you all to know she loved you, But it’s a one way trip and she won’t be coming back!
She was born on September 14,1938 to Leroy Boyette and Bettie Horne Boyette in Sampson County, who both preceded her in death. She was one of three siblings and was also preceded in death by her brothers Leroy Jr and Ralph.
Marilyn grew up in Suffolk,Va and attended Whaleyville high school where she was a very shy cheerleader. Upon graduating she continued her education and earned a degree in Business.
Marilyn would meet and marry the love of her life, Dallas Thompson on April 24, 1963. Together they would make a life together that some would call simple, but to those who knew them…They were rich in all the ways that mattered!
Under the leadership of Christ in their home they raised Peter John (whom preceded them both in death), Dallas Jr whom was lovingly referred to as “Desi” by his Mother (wife Rachel of 30 years), and their only daughter Betty Ann (husband Leslie of 16 years whom Marilyn lovingly referred to as Junee). Marilyn also was preceded in death by her nephew Nicholas Bryant. The grandchildren Adam, Kayla, Dallas 111(Chance), Jewel, Rain and one spirited great grand Adalyn! Her grandchildren in love were Kianna MCGriff, Omar Barden and countless others. Everyone who knew her will feel the loss!
Marilyn Thompson loved hard and was loyal to those she called family and friends.  She would not give up on you! No matter what and she LIVED in the gap for others. Marilyn was a devout member of Castle Hayne Advent Christian Church for all of 40 + years. She was an intercessor and a confidant to many. Her church family was family and they meant everything to her, especially her best friend, Diane Kelly. She will be missed and remembered always.
Memorial services are planned for 4 pm Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Castle Hayne Advent Christian Church.
