Evangelist Mark Baggett entered into Glory, Friday December 29th, at 10am at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.

Mark is survived by wife Debra Price Baggett, Nephew Daniel Baggett, Cousin Emory Harker, Aunt Pat Harker and many extended family and friends. Other than his wife, Mark’s three closest people in his life went before him; Son Mark “Eric” Baggett Jr. at 16 yrs old, Mother Janet Baggett, Father Jessie Baggett, Brother Dan Baggett, and his close friend and Pastor, Bobby Wilson, of Living Word Church, Leland, NC who just recently left to be with Jesus.

Mark was known to many in the baseball circuit as an excellent player to the point of him making the hard decision of not pursuing the semi pro leagues, after giving his life to Jesus, to maintain his faith.

Mark went on to be an Ordained Minister, Evangelist and received his Doctorate of Divinity from Emmanuel Baptist University. Mark’s life work was “People”. He never met a stranger. Evangelist Mark performed years of; Youth Camp Ministry, Street Ministry, Prison Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Food Bank Ministry and a Counselor to multiple ministers under him. He was selected as an Eagle Scout Mentor due to his realness of communicating his own struggles through his youth, teens and into young adulthood.

The last 15 years of Mark’s life he endured too many illness related conditions to list them all. From Sepsis to Prosthetic Legs. Mark used his illnesses to tell people about Jesus. One ER MD told Mark “he didn’t have 9 lives he had like 19 lives” to which Mark said ” yessiree Buddy and don’t you forget the reason why…the waymaker, ” Jesus”…” and HE ain’t DONE YET”!

Evangelist Mark and wife Debra set up multiple scholarships in their son Eric’s name, with a  yearly Basketball Benefit at Bethel Christian Academy in Askewville, NC, furthering their Ministry.

When the masses think of Evangelist Mark Baggett, they will have a smile on their face remembering and knowing him before their conversations ended, Jesus will be the main topic, with a little hunting added in. Evangelist Mark will surely be missed.

Gonna always remember and miss my Brother in the Lord. He was a true friend you could count on. Mark loved the Lord and he always had Jesus in his mind and on his lips. I had the privilege of being his friend for many years. Mark helped me to get into ministry and many others as well. He's walking those streets of gold and he is rejoicing in his saviour. See you again my friend in Heaven....

I'm so sorry to learn of Mark's passing. I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to run into him a few years ago at the gas station in Wilmington. It had probably been 3 or 4 decades since I had seen him. He was so friendly and happy. You wouldn't have known he had any health issues. I'm glad I have that memory to cherish of a childhood friend.
