Martha Gray Knott Brownie Hardison 74, of Wilmington died Sunday September 19, 2010 at her North Chase home.

Martha was born in Fayetteville, NC November 2, 1935. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Wheeler Knott, father Erving Stanley Knott, Sr., 2 brothers, Erving Stanley Knott Jr. and William Douglas Knott, also by her husbands Charles Eugene Brownie Sr and Jack Eugene Hardison and a nephew Paul Knott.

She is survived by 3 sons, Charles Eugene Brownie Jr. and wife Grace of Honolulu, Hawaii; Ray Brownie Sr. and wife BJ of Leland, NC; and Tony Beale of Wilmington, NC, five daughters, Betty Ann Brownie and Jacqueline Hardison Shackelford and her husband Rudolph (Shack) of Wilmington, NC, Barbara Brownie Reynolds and Debie Brownie Shelley of Leland, NC; Carol Mills Williams and husband Lee of Roanoke Rapids, NC, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and several dear in-laws.

A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday September 22, 2010 at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service. The family will see friends immediately following the service.

The family would like to thank Shawn Johnson the hospice nurse for all the special attention she showed to the family during Martha’s illness.
