Marvin Kornegay, 85, of Delco, formerly of Wilmington passed away Tuesday February 21, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Marvin was born in Duplin County on July 30, 1926 the son of the late Henry S. and Annie Pate Kornegay, He was a WWII Veteran serving on the USS Texas in the US Navy. He was retired from Pearsal Chemical Company, as a Stenographer and billing clerk.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years Ethelean Sanderson Kornegay, sons Jackie Kornegay and wife Katie, Mark Kornegay and wife Angelia ,, daughters Annette K. Browning and husband Jimmie, Marsha K. Stanley and husband Don, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Glenwood Sanderson and wife Carolyn, sister-in-law Hilda Johnson and husband Johnnie.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2012 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The Reverand Eddie Watts will officate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, with military honors.

The family will see friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Funeral home.
