Mary Ann Patten Jones, age 79 a life long resident of the Oakley Road Community in Castle Haye passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mary Ann was born in Wilmington on January 31, 1944 to R. C. Patten and Eva Mae Burton Patten. Remembered are her parents; her husbands, Thomas Avison and Daniel L. Jones; her brother, Cliff “Dinky” Patten and her sister Barbara Patten Burgess all who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Tonya Lagman (Joe), and Hope Cunha-Brown (Marilyn); stepsons, Thom Avison, Danny Jones and Brian Jones; grandchildren Romie, Jon, Zachary, Kelsey (Abe), and Jonathan.

Mary Ann graduated from New Hanover High School Class of 1962. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, enjoyed TarHeel Basketball, the beach, camping, reading and music (especially Elvis), and she always supported many local charities. She worked at Parkers Food Stores, Hughes Brothers Tire Service and retired from Shchaefer Buick BMW.

A Memorial service is planned for 7 pm Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
