Mary “Gail” Giunti-Hudson, 53, passed away Wednesday night with her family at her side at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Gail survived brain and lung cancer for 11 months.

Born September 30, 1954, in Staten Island, New York, later living in Freehold, New Jersey, until she attended the University of Maryland majoring in Art. She had a successful career in restaurant management for 15 years, then another 10 years in retail management. She came to Wilmington as a manager for Dillard’s in 2001 and later as a manager for Lowes Home Improvement.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Moya Christina Giunti. She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph “Steven” Hudson and her three children whom she loved more than anything, Ryan C. Hudson 17, and twin girls, Brandi M. Hudson and Brittney N. Hudson 16. Other family members include her father, Frank E. Giunti and his wife Delores of Williamsburg, Virginia. She has four brothers, Richard Giunti/ wife Donna/ daughter Cira of Williamsburg, Virginia. David Giunti/ wife Mary/ sons Zach and Matthew/ daughter Megan of Newport News, Virginia. Robert “Fish” Giunti/ wife Lawanda/ son Joshua/ daughter Amil of Richmond, Virginia. Denis Giunti of Newport News.

Gail was full of life and love for all of her family. She enjoyed arts and crafts and encouraged her children to do excellent in school. Her caring and devotion to friends and family will be deeply missed.

The family will be having visitation at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News, Virginia, on Wednesday, October 17, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Church services will be held at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Newport News, Virginia, on Thursday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial service at Parklawn Cemetery in Hampton, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.

A memorial mass to remember Gail will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
