Melba Rae Hines Neville, age 80 of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

She was born in Wilmington on March 1, 1936 to Luther Thomas “Luke” Hines and Ruby Merritt Hines. She was the widow of Ralph B. “Pete” Neville.

Melba was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star as a member of AREME Chapter # 372, where she served for many years as Chapter Organist. She was Past Worthy Matron of Goldenrod Chapter # 142, and had served the Grand Chapter of NC Order of Eastern Star as Grand Organist. She loved music and enjoyed playing at the many Eastern Star Chapters in the Wilmington area. She and her husband Pete, owned and operated R.B. Neville Plumbing Service for many years until retirement. Her family also operated Hines Fish Market at Wrightsville Beach for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Getz and husband Tom; two sons, Ralph “Bubba” Neville, Jr. and Troy Neville and wife Kathy. One brother, L.T. Hines. Jr. and wife Joy; grandchildren, Ralph “Trey” III and wife Kelly, Brett and wife Heather, Travis, Cody and wife Jessica; two great grandchildren, Emma Rae and Luke.

The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home of her daughter at 605 Sandfiddler Point Rd., Wilmington.

Funeral services will be held 3pm Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Sellers, Dane Sellers, and L.T. Hines.

Special thanks to her home care givers, Towanna, Ms. Gayle, and Pearl. Also Lower Cape Fear Hospice and the Brunswick Cove Nursing Center.
