Melissa Benton Cheshire, age 38, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born on May 20, 1980, in Concord, NC, the daughter of Mark Benton and Deborah Julian Benton.

Melissa worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Insurance industry.

Melissa is survived by her parents Mark and Debbie Benton, her husband Joey Cheshire, her two kids Riley(11) and Carter(5) and sister Amy Benton Earnhardt.

She loved going to the beach and spending time with friends and family at barbecues and family get together. She also loved spending time with her two kids and doing anything to see them smile.

The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held from 6:00pm till 8:00pm on Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

    My condolences to the family. I never reconnected with Melissa after coming back from the Army but the time I spent with her before will remain in my memory as some of the best times of my life. She could always make your worries small and bring optimism to any situation. To her lifelong friends and family, I know you were all blessed by her presence in a way many people will never know.
