Memorial Gifts & Donations

Melissa Liane Laurin, 29 years old, was born on October 24, 1992 in Wilmington, North Carolina and passed away on March 18, 2022 at her residence.

Melissa was a graduate of New Hanover High School and went on to complete her Bachelors in Exercise Science at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Melissa was genuine, loud, and an unstoppable energy reserved for her loved ones, with a passion for dogs, soccer, rock music, and comedy. Melissa ran Laurin Family Pet Sitting and touched many hearts of the community. When she wasn’t spending quality time caring for other’s pets, she loved nothing more than to dote on her own. Smiling and playing with her dogs was her ultimate happy place. Another favorite past-time for Melissa was spending time with her people, which usually consisted of “The Unit” and her closest friends. If there was an event to celebrate, or even if there wasn’t, Melissa would find a reason to cook and bring the people in her life together. She was the greatest protector and confidant. Her life was big and beautiful and life changing for everyone that was lucky enough to get to know her. Melissa was a daughter, a sister, a best friend, an athlete, an artist, a pet lover, a businesswoman, and absolutely irreplaceable.

Melissa is survived by her loving parents Mark and Stacy Laurin, her beloved sister and lifelong best friend Melanie and cherished by her Uncles Steven Stafford, Gary Tracy, Tom Laurin (Vivian Laurin), Alan Scott, Jamie Laurin (Bettysue Laurin), Mike Mattox; her aunt Suzanne Tracy; grandparents, Mike Puckett, James Laurin, and special grandparents Walter and Connie Hubbard; special loved ones Morgan Traynham Taylor, Susan and Jeff Hofmeister, Les and James Coston along with a host of cousins, friends, and chosen family.

She is preceded in death by Aunts Jody Scott, Kristin Mattox, Melissa Laurin, grandparents Steve and Barbara Cortez, and Sally Puckett.
