Meredith Herzog Current, of Holden Beach, NC, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, November 7, 2007. Meredith was born March 8, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Although she was not born on the North Carolina coast, she got here as quickly as she could.

Meredith was preceded in death by her mother Aditha Niemeyer, whom she adored and who will surely be waiting at the gate of heaven to welcome her home.

She is survived by her husband Bob Current, Holden Beach, and their three children and their families, Summer and Rich Roberts and daughter Esmé, Durham, NC, Zachary and Melissa Current and children Elijah and Isabela, Charlotte, NC, and Temple Current and son Edan, Holden Beach, NC. Meredith’s good sense of humor, warmth and sincerity will be deeply missed by those fortunate to have known her. Over the course of Meredith’s life she cultivated many interests and talents, often to perfection. She loved her husband very much and she will be missed greatly by him. She was a loving and adventurous mother. During Meredith’s time in Holden Beach, she enjoyed listening to her wind chimes, the breeze rustling her palm trees and looking out onto the ocean.

Meredith graduated from Missouri Western State College, St. Joseph, MO and at one time was a very active member of Coastline Rescue Squad. She is a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and All Saint’s Sunday School Class. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

How sad to see that one of my favorite high school friends has passed at such a young age. While Meredith and I were not connected much after we both left St. Joseph, her friendship in our young years was a gift indeed. Prayers go to the Current family as well as to Bill, Randy, and Stan. May your memories of special times carry you through the days ahead. In sympathy, Paula Koch
