I met Michael at his first law enforcement job in Leland. He was a great officer and a great person. Fortunately, we were able to keep in touch over the years and across state lines. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Thinking of the family and friends of Deputy Barnhill. He was a great presence at Heide Trask High School when I worked with him there. I will remember our long afternoon talks and him assisting me in my classroom with kids who were troubled. He had a good heart. I pray for those left with his memory and legacy.
