Michael Timothy Crossman, 26, passed away unexpectedly Monday, 7/19 at NHRMC ED North due to complications from preexisting medical conditions.

Michael was born May 11, 1995 in Syracuse, New York. He lived the majority of his life in Wilmington NC with his mother and grandparents.

He is survived by his Mother, Colleen Crossman, his Grandparents, Maureen & Tim Crossman, his Godmother/Aunt, Rebecca Wood, Cousin Jeffrey Wood, his best friend “brother from another mother”, Michael “ Dredlok” Bost, his beloved dog, Riley, his Godfather/Uncle, Dan/Lori McKeown, Uncles Karl Crossman/John Steinberg, Tom/Lynne McKeown, Kevin McKeon, Aunts Kathleen/ Mark Walczak, Colleen McKeon, Sharon/Tom Putney, Mary/Kevin Marcks, Pam/Tony Nicoletti, Laurie Zellers/Marc Enzien, Melinda Judge, Debbie/Ziggy DiBartolomeo, Barbara McKeon, many beloved cousins and friends.

Michael was a 2013 graduate of Laney High School, he was employed by Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop. In the past few years, Michael took his love of music and with the help of his best friend Mikey, started his career as a DJ, performing his sets as DJ Crossfire. Michael was happiest and most in his element performing with Dredlok, Froggy P, Phyphr, Katy Mauk and Hamilton Jones. He loved music, playing guitar and ukulele. He was an amazing artist and always had a sketch pad in his hand. He loved to draw and paint and generously shared his artwork with his friends and family. He was an avid bowler and billiards player and would spend every Sunday with his grandparents at Beach Bowl, Ten Pin Alley and Diamonds Pool. Michael never left home or ended a phone call without saying, “ I Love You”. People say our family was a blessing to Michael, but we were the ones blessed by him.

Our deepest appreciation to Dr. S. Bryan Durham, the nursing staff at NHRMC ED North, and the nurses of Vita Link Critical Care Team for the tremendous care they provided Michael.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s name to Robeson County Humane Society 3180 W. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358 or NHRMC Foundation Emergency Department at NHRMC.org or 2001 S. 17th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on August 21, 2021 from 2pm-4pm at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403. All are welcome!

It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be his Mom and that God trusted me with his care and his loving heart.

Michael loved and would often sing the song,” I believe I Can Fly” and now he truly is.
“ I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I’m leaning on the everlasting arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly”

I've basically watched Michael grow up in my bowling center. He was a gentleman, just a all around nice guy. Here's a large Dr Pepper with no ice for you my friend! I'll surely miss him, a lot. Fly free my friend!
