Memorial Gifts & Donations

Michele Ann Winters, 65, of Wilmington, North Carolina, and wife of the late Thomas Andrew Winters, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Michele was born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, on March 23, 1957, to Roy H. and Elizabeth (Cramer) Martin. She graduated from Cherry Hill East High School in 1975. After graduation, cosmetology school is where Michele committed to experimenting with every hairstyle and color throughout her life, from edgy bobs and shags to big, bouncy curls.

Michele met the love of her life after an introduction by mutual friends. Throughout their marriage, Michele and Tom dreamed of all the places they could travel and the adventures they’d experience as a family. In their final years together, Michele and Tom settled in Wilmington, North Carolina, where they could enjoy the benefits of coastal living, including boating, kayaking, and relaxing at the beach.

Michele is survived by her three children Rachel Mills of West Palm Beach, Florida, Megan Mullins of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Thomas J. Winters of Wilmington, North Carolina; two grandchildren; brothers, Richard Martin of Somerdale, New Jersey, and Robert Martin of Pinole, California and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

To her children, she leaves a love for dogs, gardening, classic rock, baking Swedish bread at Christmas, science fiction movies, genealogy, and a deep love of laughter and fun.

Michele had a joyful, kind presence and made friends easily throughout her life. Her children loved to make her laugh. There was never a day that she didn’t brag about all three of her beautiful babies. We will miss her greatly.

Michele will be honored at a forthcoming private celebration of life in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

I’m remembering a happy wife and mom, who laughed easily and loved intensely. I’m remembering sweet Rachel, with the long red hair, and a proud mom introducing us to her little girl. Michelle beaming as another Grandpop and grandmom welcomed them as their own from that moment on. Michelle loved that and responded in kind being the best daughter-in-law ,Cousin, niece anyone could ever want. I remember my cousin Tommy being so in love and so happy to show Michelle off. I think I remember him calling her “my girl’ to every one? Something cute like that. When Megan and Tommy rounded out the family, they seemed to have it all. Family parties, where my kids played happily with all the Winters cousins were the best. It brings me comfort to know that after all these years, Tommy has his Michelle back. I know she would’ve wanted to stay with you guys but being in his arms as well as in His arms, is a pretty good place too.
